Tech Transfer Associate

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. Responsibilities

Working directly with scientists, clinicians, military and academic partners, and industry, you will enable military medical research, innovation & commercialization through the drafting and negotiation of licenses, research collaboration agreements, innovation evaluation, and outreach to HJF and military faculty, staff and administrators through:
Drafting and negotiation of commercialization agreements, including inter-institutional agreements, option agreements and licenses and maintain relationships with commercialization partners
Drafting and negotiating medium to high complexity research agreement such as Material Transfer Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and Cooperative Research and Development Agreements. Work with Technology Transfer Specialists to manage agreement workflows
Engagement/relationship building and management: Liaise with HJF personnel, engage with external stakeholders, and serve as an advisor on innovation and commercialization matters
Leading innovation and commercialization outreach and education for researchers and project managers
Review of publications for potential undisclosed innovations
Working to elicit and assess new military medical innovations and collaboration with the Technology Transfer team to manage and protect HJF innovations, prepare marketing materials and engage potential commercialization partners

Required

Master's Degree in Biomedical Sciences or a related field is required
Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience
An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements noted
Ability to function in a fast-paced team environment
Very strong organizational skills; attention to detail and high-quality work standards; ability to work relatively independently
Strong analytical and organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to interact creatively and harmoniously with coworkers and inventors
Experience with database software and internet searching
Demonstrated ability in handling multiple tasks simultaneously complete projects in a timely manner
Technical aptitude and experience understanding complex biological and medical technologies

Preferred

You have a doctoral degree in a life science-related field and significant experience in technology transfer and contracting. Candidates with legal backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
Significant experience in university or federal laboratory technology transfer activities. Relevant industry experience is advantageous
You are an excellent communicator and can provide excellent customer support to all stakeholders of a research enterprise
You possess sound decision-making skills and balanced judgment, with the flexibility of thought and style needed to maximize interactions with military research and commercialization stakeholders
You are a dependable team member and can work well within a dynamic, results-oriented group
