They are seeking a Director of Engineering to drive hardware-based engineering for an airborne pathogen sensor, overseeing outsourced design and manufacturing teams while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Manage call aspects of complex projects from concept to manufacturing with a systematic phase gate approach, including mechanical and electrical engineering, firmware (via software team) optics, and microfluidics
Maintain compliance with GMP and DoW requirements, using significant experience engineering in highly regulated environments
Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Sales, etc
Budget and manage Engineering
Program-manage engineering and product development from concept through production release via outsourced partners
Define control system requirements, design specs, validation testing and qualification
Meet GMP and DoD requirements for BOM, design teams, and validation requirements
Ensure adequate document and change management systems and compliance
Manage outsourced design and manufacturing partners to requirements, schedule, and budget. Make necessary
Hands-on work in prototype build, validation, optimization
Communicate effectively across departments to get buy-in and drive timely decisions
Manage relevant procurement activities (contracts, purchasing, etc.)
Excellent communication and proven management skills
Qualification
Required
Master's degree - required
Mechanical Engineering - required
Electrical Engineering - as relates to electromechanical and optical systems
Firm-and software requirements definition and component driver selection
Optics Engineering - prefer PCR optics experience
Materials and Chemistry - deep understanding of materials properties and familiarity with reagent management
Aerosol Science - fundamentals of particle dynamics and measurement
Project Management - experience running multi-discipline complex projects with outsourced design
Validation and Reliability Testing - able to define and drive comprehensive test plans for product release
Documentation and Change Control - experience running programs in highly regulated industries
Budget - experience running multi-million dollar product development programs and department budgeting
Understanding of design control PLM systems
