The Employment Development Department is one of the largest State departments in California, seeking professionals to join their team as an Accountant I Specialist. This role involves performing complex semi-professional accounting work and account maintenance functions for the Unemployment Insurance and Disability Insurance programs, including reviewing and reconciling benefit payments and analyzing information from various sources.

Responsibilities

Perform the more difficult and complex semi-professional accounting work and account maintenance functions for the Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Disability Insurance (DI) programs

Perform a variety of accounting duties to review and reconcile benefit payments and overpayments, including processing remittances, adjustments, transfers, and other accounting transactions

Utilize databases, spreadsheets, and benefit accounting reports to analyze information obtained from Federal, State and Departmental sources and take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the UI and DI Trust Funds

Be flexible and adaptable to frequent workload changes based on organizational workload priorities
