Responsibilities
Assist the lead engineer and participate in the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and lighting controls; coordinate with the technology group for data and communication infrastructure, fire alarm, and nurse call systems to meet owner/client needs and code requirements
Assess existing building systems and report to the owner with recommendations for required maintenance, potential savings, and/or available rebates for upgrades
Develop electrical engineering design solutions, calculations, design documents, specifications, and project-related communications
Provide design follow-through, including construction correspondence, site observations, punch lists, and project closeout
Participate in client meetings when requested
Coordinate work with all disciplines and external consultants
Review submittals, RFIs, and contractor-proposed change orders
Adhere to project schedules and budgeted hours
Collaborate with team members to share experiences, knowledge, skills, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement
Mentor and train entry-level designers across multiple offices
Assist in the preparation of electrical specifications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program
15+ years of industry experience
Strong understanding of commercial building electrical systems
Demonstrates integrity and trust
Commitment to excellence and quality work
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment as well as independently
Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and alternative solution development
Ability to understand and effectively apply technical skills to projects
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to complete documentation, drawings, and reports accurately and on time
Commitment to continuous technical skill development
Ability to write clear, high-quality reports
Takes responsibility for actions and task completion
Regularly engages with clients to communicate project progress
Responds to requests in a timely manner
Strong time management skills and commitment to deadlines
Preferred
Experience with an A/E or MEP consulting firm preferred
Knowledge and experience with Revit, lighting calculation software, and proficiency in spreadsheets preferred
