Asst Director Clinical Data Registry Abstraction

This role is responsible for overseeing clinical data abstraction and reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing daily operations related to quality reporting and registries.

Responsibilities
Assists the CDRA Director in planning, developing, organizing, implementing and directing the day to day functions of the CDRA operations
Provides direct managerial oversight to assigned teams to include Managers, Team Leads, Data Analysts and Abstractors
Proactively manages (including corresponding communication and escalation path) significant issues in abstraction, status of projects, barriers and successes
Responsible for ensuring staff compliance with documented and established workflow guidelines as it relates to clinical data abstraction
Supports director in oversight and direction to clinical registry (e.g., Trauma Registry) and abstraction (e.g., Hospital Acquired Infection) staff in compliance with regulatory requirements, appropriate state standards and company policy
Ensures complete, accurate, timely and consistent abstracting according to registry and abstraction reporting guidelines and company/HSC policy
Assists in development and implementation of written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the CDRA department
Prepares abstraction benchmarking, abstraction productivity, abstraction quality, and performance improvement reports for the CDRA Director
Contributes to the development of strategic direction of the clinical data abstraction/registry shared service model
Coaches and provides overall guidance to the HSC registry/abstraction team to resolve internal and external issues
Supports the director in monitoring registry/abstraction performance according to productivity and quality standards
Actively reviews outcomes to identify root cause of quality issues for overall quality improvement of process and services provided
Assists in identifying process improvement to decrease cost and improve service applicable to stakeholders
Supports the director in the strategic vision for enterprise wide clinical data abstraction and reporting for various quality reporting requirements (e.g., core measures, infectious disease) and service line/disease specific registries (e.g., trauma, NICU, CV) shared services
Supports director in leading and managing the implementation of people, process and workflow technology changes for various registries and abstracting initiatives across the company
Works with technology team on innovations to create process efficiencies and automation for clinical data abstraction and registry initiatives (e.g., registries, abstracting)
Collaborates with HIM and CSG leadership, Group CMOs and Division Quality, CMO and CMIO leadership on clinical abstraction and reporting shared services
Acts as a liaison to bridge various uses of data and technology to create new actionable information used to improve processes, procedures and delivery of outcomes
Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and company compliance policies
Works in partnership with other members of HCA leadership in addressing issues related to timely abstraction, documentation, data management and reporting
Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required, ideally in HIM, Informatics or Nursing. Degree requirement may be substituted by current enrollment in a Bachelor Degree program or equivalent work experience with CEO approval
Minimum of 5 years of experience in health care management/leadership required
Minimum of 3 years of health care operations strongly preferred
Preferred
Experience leading large organizations preferred
RHIA or RN strongly preferred
