SCIENTIST

The University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Scientist to join its Interdisciplinary Plant Group (IPG) within the Division of Plant Science & Technology. This role involves conducting independent research on sorghum's responses to environmental stressors and working as part of a multi-institution team to investigate photosynthesis and carbohydrate partitioning in sorghum.

Responsibilities

Quantifying sucrose flux using radioactive isotopes
Perform metabolomic analysis of sorghum leaves and follow-up on lead metabolites to validate
Build constructs for gene editing candidate genes and prepare for transformation into plants
Characterize transgenic sorghum plants to determine the function of the candidate genes
Supervise undergraduate students in research, participate in project meetings, write regular reports and drafts for scientific publications, and give oral presentations at scientific conferences and perform other job related duties as assigned

Required

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area
At least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired
