Drug/GM Manager

Responsibilities
Maintain an enthusiastic, customer‑focused atmosphere with fast and friendly service
Assist customers by offering product suggestions
Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction
Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when necessary
Oversee total store operations in the absence of the Store Director
Plan daily GM operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals
Ensure department standards and requirements are consistently met
Maintain working knowledge of all department duties, including opening and closing procedures
Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance
Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels
Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees
Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements
Identify and develop employees with potential for advancement
Apply company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook
Initiate personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures
Build GM/HBC displays; rotate stock and remove outdated or spoiled products
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and department
Implement promotional and seasonal displays
Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, properly displayed, and shelves are clean and well‑maintained
Enforce proper code‑dating procedures for all products
Control shrink and manage costs effectively
Use and operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, and safety cutters
Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every six months
Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness
Maintain inventory levels according to division directives; stock and rotate product
Order general merchandise products and maintain proper back‑room organization and in‑stock conditions
Supervise reclamation processing
Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product
Follow product temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines
Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records
Complete and monitor daily log sheets, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation
Ensure proper temperature levels are maintained for all products
Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements
Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations
Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas
Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions
Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices
Attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to employees
Ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code
Perform all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity
Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned
