Responsibilities
Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with supervision from the Complex Litigation attorneys
Conduct legal research and develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
Conduct depositions and attend court appearances
Conduct legal research and develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues
Provide effective and timely communications, legal advice and other services to clients and claims customers on legal and factual issues in a technology driven environment
Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures
Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise
Qualification
Required
Minimum of three (3) years of litigation experience
Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in New York State
Knowledge of New York Supreme and Civil courts
Member in good standing of New York State Bar
Strong legal research and writing skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are essential
Strong communication, computer and technological skills, and the ability to quickly leverage new software are required
For full-time, occasional, part-time or remote positions: (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Wi-Fi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite; (2) Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable; and (3) minimum upload/download speeds of 5Mbps/30Mbps will be required
