Responsibilities
Produce authoritative architectural documentation covering:
Multi tenant Exchange Online design patterns
Tenant reference architecture & Desired State Configuration
Domain and DNS provisioning model at scale
Identity alignment strategy (authentication vs. email address separation, primary login identity, multi domain mapping)
Cross tenant collaboration and isolation controls
Lead technical deep dives with Microsoft and other partners, ensuring alignment on recommended architecture
Provide architectural input into executive-facing materials, including:
Feasibility assessments
Risk/mitigation summaries
Trade-off analysis for key decisions (e.g., DBA-only strategy, identity redesign)
Participate in working sessions with program leadership and provide clear architectural rationale
Review vendor technical deliverables for quality and alignment
Ensure architectural consistency across Product, Technology, IAM, Security, Compliance, and Operations
Support definition of non-functional requirements:
Security isolation
Compliance enforcement
Reliability & scale
Observability & monitoring
Maintainability & operational model
Evaluate mailbox migration patterns, throughput assumptions, and automation requirements
Guide teams on:
Cross tenant identity and mailbox cutover sequencing
Handling users supporting multiple practices
Advisor office isolation requirements
DNS automation and tenant provisioning at scale
Provide architectural decision records (ADRs), design validations, and redlines
Qualification
Required
Deep architecture experience with Exchange Online, hybrid topologies, large scale migrations
Azure AD/Entra ID identity patterns
Cross tenant and multi tenant M365 architectures
DNS, domains, federation, and email routing in complex environments
Microsoft 365 Lighthouse and tenant management automation
PowerShell / Graph API automation at enterprise scale
Prior delivery of large scale migrations (25k–100k users) in regulated environments
Experience with migration tools: Quest ODM, BitTitan, Microsoft Migration Tooling
Familiarity with regulatory isolation requirements
Multi tenant supervisory controls
DLP, sensitivity labels, Exchange transport rules
Audit and monitoring models across tenants
Ability to articulate complex architectural concepts to senior executives
Strong cross functional leadership across IAM, Security, Operations, and Program PMO
Experience producing clear, decision ready architectural materials
