Responsibilities

Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for purchasing, receiving and issuing of shop supplies and tools, parts and related equipment; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility
Supervise, organize and review the work of lower level staff
Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
Oversee the purchasing, receiving and issuing of automotive parts and related equipment
Maintain accurate and complete records of all parts activities
Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
Prepare clear and concise reports
Communicate clearly and concisely
Ability to effectively communicate orally or in writing with vendors and customers
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Required

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or a two (2) year technical certificate in automotive repair or business
Four (4) years of automotive repair or parts issuing experience
One (1) year of supervisory or lead experience
Possession of a valid New Mexico's Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire
Operations, services and activities of an automotive parts purchasing program
Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
Modern and complex principles and practices of parts purchasing
Methods and techniques of inventory control
Principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
