Day Shift Warehouse Manager

Responsibilities
Oversee all day-shift warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, material staging, internal transfers, and yard coordination
Ensure all materials are accurately received, inspected, labeled, scanned, and stored in compliance with ERP requirements, GMPs, food safety standards, and company policies
Direct real-time material flow to production, ensuring correct product, quantity, lot, and timing to prevent downtime or production delays
Review daily production schedules and outbound shipment plans to align labor, equipment, dock availability, and operational priorities
Enforce FIFO, allergen segregation, lot control, and full traceability standards across all warehouse activities
Partner with Quality and Sanitation to maintain warehouse cleanliness, food safety compliance, and continuous audit readiness
Own inventory accuracy during day-shift operations through scheduled cycle counts, audits, variance investigations, and corrective actions
Review, approve, and oversee ERP transactions including receipts, transfers, adjustments, work orders, and staging activities
Analyze inventory discrepancies, shortages, overstocks, and slow-moving inventory; identify root causes and implement CAPAs
Maintain accurate, real-time inventory visibility to support production planning and customer order fulfillment
Ensure compliance with customer-specific inventory, labeling, documentation, and traceability requirements
Coordinate all daytime outbound logistics, including carrier scheduling, dock execution, shipment prioritization, and documentation accuracy
Serve as the primary warehouse contact for carriers, brokers, Customer Service, and internal stakeholders during business hours
Resolve shipping discrepancies, short shipments, damages, and delivery issues in partnership with Customer Service and Supply Chain
Monitor freight performance, service levels, and costs; support freight optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with DOT, FDA, and customer transportation requirements
Act as the primary warehouse liaison for Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service, Procurement, and Finance during core business hours
Lead daily coordination with Production Planner to review material availability, schedule changes, and shifting priorities
Communicate inventory risks, logistics constraints, or capacity concerns proactively to leadership
Support customer-driven requests such as expedited shipments, special handling, and order changes
Develop and adjust daily labor plans based on production schedules, shipping volume, and inventory activity
Manage overtime usage responsibly in alignment with operational needs and budget expectations
Ensure proper staffing coverage for shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material staging functions
Monitor warehouse-related costs including labor, freight, supplies, and equipment usage; identify cost-reduction opportunities
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis related to warehouse operations
Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff, leads, and supervisors through consistent floor presence and hands-on leadership
Conduct performance reviews, ongoing coaching, and skills development related to safety, ERP usage, and standard work
Ensure all team members are trained on SOPs, food safety, safety requirements, and system processes
Reinforce accountability for productivity, accuracy, safety, and attendance expectations
Support talent development, succession planning, and engagement initiatives within the warehouse team
Own and maintain warehouse SOPs, work instructions, training records, and audit documentation
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse reports and KPI summaries to leadership
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all warehouse performance reporting
Maintain continuous readiness for internal and external audits
Identify inefficiencies in warehouse layout, workflows, staffing models, and system usage; lead improvement initiatives
Support ERP enhancements, automation efforts, and warehouse optimization projects
Act as the primary escalation point for warehouse-related issues during business hours
Lead investigations into inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, safety incidents, and service failures
Ensure issues are resolved, documented, and communicated clearly to stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field; or 5+ years equivalent experience in logistics and warehouse management within food manufacturing or related industry
Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation management, and warehouse operations
Experience managing ERP/WMS systems for inventory and shipping processes
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration and vendor negotiations
Ability to manage budgets, meet deadlines, and deliver against performance targets
At least one year experience operating Sit-down, Stand-up Forklift / PIT in hot and cold environments
Proficient with computers, including use of scanners, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and WMS (SAP, BC, NetSuite, etc)
