Responsibilities

Design and simulation of optical components (e.g. lenses, diffusers, diffractive/holographic optical elements, lensed fiber, etc.) and opto-mechanical systems for beam-conditioning of free-space and fiber-coupled semiconductor lasers
Design Verification Testing (DVT), characterization of high-power single & multi-mode laser diodes for telecom, industrial, and consumer markets (e.g., spectral locking, noise, coherence collapse, Stimulated Brillion Scattering, fiber/volume Bragg gratings, high-speed characterization, the field of view)
Cost-effective tolerancing of low-cost, manufacturable optical components for high-volume consumer applications
Define performance specification limits for high-power single-mode and multi-mode laser diodes (e.g., LIV, WPE, spectral)
Work with electrical/mechanical engineering and assembly/packaging staff on the design, development, and packaging of photonic optical systems
Support development implementation of test equipment in R&D environment needed to perform DVT characterization tests, including software/hardware integration
Document and present characterization results
