Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and employee relations matters
Manage complex employee relations issues, including investigations, performance concerns, and corrective actions
Lead workers’ compensation processes, including claim intake, communication with carriers, incident tracking, and return-to-work coordination
Partner closely with payroll on auditing hours, identifying discrepancies, resolving pay issues, and ensuring accurate labor reporting
Administer benefits programs, support escalated employee questions, and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues
Support FMLA, ADA, and all leave-related processes, ensuring compliance and proper documentation
Manage HRIS data accuracy, run reports, and maintain confidential employee records
Lead compliance initiatives, including audits, regulatory updates, and policy enhancements across multiple states
Mentor HR team members and provide training to build organizational knowledge in employee relations, benefits, and payroll practices
Support onboarding, offboarding, and general HR operations as needed
Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure all HR practices align with federal, state, local, and cannabis industry regulations

Required

4–6 years of progressive HR experience, with strong expertise in employee relations, payroll support, benefits administration, and workers' compensation
Strong understanding of employment law, compliance requirements, and risk-mitigation practices
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner with all levels of the organization
Skilled with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and sound judgment
Must be at least 21 years old
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Facility Agent Card (or equivalent) as required by Arizona state cannabis regulations

Regular local travel to retail locations within Arizona; occasional out-of-state travel possible
Ability to work in an office environment with occasional exposure to cannabis plant material
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Preferred

Experience in multi-state, highly regulated industries; cannabis experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in HRIS systems; iSolved experience is highly preferred
