The US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking an Interdisciplinary Engineer for their Northwestern Division. This role involves applying engineering principles to assist in the planning, design, and construction of water resource projects, while providing practical experience and support to higher-level engineers.

Responsibilities
Utilizes the basic principles of the applicable engineering discipline to perform the less complex mechanical/electrical engineering phases of planning, design, and construction of water resource projects
Performs work assignments of limited scope and difficulty designed to provide advanced practical application and experience of theories and principles in the engineering field of specialization
Assists higher level professional personnel by carrying out complete projects of limited scope or narrow aspects of broader projects
Typical work assignments involve matters such as: computations and calculations of a variety of data and work of a similar degree of difficulty and/or design or review mechanical/electrical portions of engineering designs prepared by Architect-Engineer firms with various systems and facilities
Qualification
Required
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-5)
Skill in applying theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies of engineering
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree from an Accredited Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited institution
Must provide transcripts to verify degree
Must be a citizen of the United States
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Background Check
Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states
Must sign a Recent Graduate Participant Agreement
Preferred
One year of graduate-level education related to this position
Superior academic achievement at the baccalaureate level in a professional engineering curriculum
GPA of 3.0 or higher for all completed undergraduate coursework or for all courses completed in the last two full years of undergraduate work
GPA of 3.5 or higher for all courses in the major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two full years of undergraduate work
Ranking in the upper one third of your college, university, or major subdivision
Membership in a national honor society other than freshman honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies
Combination of specialized experience and some of the education described
Travel is required-approximately 25% of time per year
Trial or probationary period may be required
Direct deposit of pay is required
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 76% of the time
