Responsibilities

Provide oversight and management of the Center’s electrical safety program and serve as the electrical safety subject matter expert
Serve as an advisor to engineers, management, contractor personnel, and other related organizations for institutional and programmatic safety requirements
Evaluate, develop, and implement safety and quality techniques and procedures associated with the design, development, construction, modification, and/or operation of Center facilities, systems, and related equipment
Participate in design efforts, safety analysis programs, and safety inspections and audits to verify compliance with established requirements
Perform safety plan reviews, risk evaluations, and analyses of safety and quality inspections and audits results
Perform safety engineering functions to include developing and reviewing documents to ensure applicable requirements are incorporated
Coordinate extensively with government and contractor safety personnel, delegate activities, and monitor contractor performance
Design, develop, and implement new work concepts and methods by planning, organizing, and scheduling work while explaining what tasks are to be performed, what methods are to be used, and what safety and quantity standards are to be applied

Required

You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following: a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs b) Physical Science c) Mathematics d) Life Science or other field of Science e) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus
If selected, you will be required to complete a financial disclosure statement
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level
Applying safety and quality assurance requirements to include at least two of the following: Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) regulations, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70 - National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E - Electrical Safety in the Workplace, and NFPA 780 - Lightning Protection Systems
Providing technical guidance and oversight associated with safety and mission assurance engineering disciplines, such as safety, quality, management systems, and risk management
Identifying, evaluating, and resolving critical and complex issues related to safety and mission assurance requirements such as design, test, and evaluation of new and updated facilities, equipment, or systems
Your resume must include a clear and detailed narrative description, in your own words, of how you meet the required specialized experience
All degrees must have been received in the year of, or any year subsequent to the original date of accreditation
Engineering degrees earned within the United States must be from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program
Engineering degrees earned outside the United States must be recognized by a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA)
Science and other related degrees must have been awarded from colleges or universities that are accredited by recognized accrediting organizations
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs
