HR Onboarding Specialist - Grand Canyon South Rim

Xanterra Travel Collection operates in the Grand Canyon National Park, offering a unique work environment. They are seeking a Human Resources Onboarding Specialist responsible for managing pre-boarding and onboarding activities and ensuring compliance throughout the candidate lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for new employees, managing their arrival experience and providing a warm, welcoming first impression through proactive and responsive communication via text, email, phone, and in person
Build and maintain strong working relationships with Property Directors and Managers, the Talent Team, and Work & Travel/Intern program representatives
Coordinate and manage pre-boarding and onboarding phases of the candidate lifecycle, including document initiation and tracking, in accordance with recruiter service level agreements
Provide a comprehensive welcome experience for newly arriving staff, delivering relevant information on pre-orientation, wayfinding, ID cards, meals, direct deposit, and other onboarding needs
Support the processing of internal property and Xanterra transfer requests; assist current employees with online portal completion as needed and escalate to the Talent Team when appropriate
Administer on-property processes for J-1 students, including preparation and issuance of employment verification letters, SEVIS check-in reminders, coordination with Housing for employee placement, social security trips, and notification of department managers regarding arrival dates
Assist walk-in candidates with online application process, including creating candidate profiles and attaching them to requisitions when appropriate
Act as the department’s administrative support, managing office correspondence, record, retention, file management, and other administrative functions
Support HR policies, procedures, and initiatives, as directed by the Human Resources leadership team
Prepare weekly reports on job postings, expected arrivals, and ad hoc reporting as needed
Participate in job fairs as required

Required

Prior experience in Human Resources, preferably in the hospitality industry
Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software

Strong presentation and documentation skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with business acumen and a strong relationship management approach
Process driven with strong organizational aptitude and a high attention to detail with diligent execution
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to prioritize tasks and operate with a sense of urgency
Ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues
Ability to be culturally sensitive and navigate ambiguous situations
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and Talent Management Systems

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
