Responsibilities
Handling all phases of civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances
Representing insurance carriers and insureds in a broad range of civil defense matters, including general liability, product liability, transportation, and medical malpractice claims
Conducting legal research, drafting briefs, and preparing case evaluations and reports for clients
Developing and implementing litigation strategies
Conducting and defending depositions and arguing dispositive motions
Participating in settlement negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations
Providing strategic legal advice to clients in general liability, product liability, professional liability, medical malpractice, and related claims
Communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court
Qualification
Required
Active Illinois bar license (Required)
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
3 to 4 years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience (Required)
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for court appearances
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Exceptional writing, organizational, and advocacy skills
Preferred
Background in general litigation defense, with exposure to medical malpractice and/or aviation defense considered a plus
