Responsibilities
Lead the development of the Group’s multi-year business planning approach
Manage the annual budget-setting process, ensuring robust budgets are developed that withstand scrutiny from the Senior Management Team
Oversee in-year financial management, testing compliance with financial controls
Ensure business cases receive appropriate challenge
Support the effective management of a significant and evolving programme portfolio
Provide strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders across Government Security
Help stakeholders understand the financial implications and risks of key decisions
Build trusted relationships with leaders and practitioners
Develop and grow the team to ensure it has the capability, capacity and culture needed to meet changing priorities
Qualification
Required
Qualified finance professional
Solid understanding of how government finance works
Understanding of how public spending is controlled
Comfortable working with complex information
Ability to weigh up different funding options
Ability to turn analysis into advice that helps people make confident decisions
Enjoy working with people and building strong relationships
Ability to communicate clearly and adapt style to audience
Ability to juggle competing priorities
Good at cutting through detail and spotting what really matters
Ability to explain complex information in an easily actionable way
Credible and resilient leader comfortable operating at senior levels
Brings energy, good judgement, and a strong sense of ownership to work
