TECHNICAL EDITOR AND WRITER 3

The Technical Editor and Writer 3 will be responsible for writing, editing, and maintaining technical documents and manuals, ensuring clear communication of technical specifications and instructions.

Responsibilities

Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts
Conducts quality review of materials
Developing and maintenance of component technical manuals
Regularly requires communication with NAVY, NNL, and Engineers/Designer across departments via email, phone, and in-person meetings
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Paint Editor and must be knowledgeable of Adobe Acrobat, Windows, and Internet Explorer/Edge
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, writing procedures and performing validation and verification tasks of component technical manuals

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience, Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience, High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience, High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Paint Editor
Must be knowledgeable of Adobe Acrobat, Windows, and Internet Explorer/Edge

Preferred

Naval Nuclear propulsion Experience
Familiar with software troubleshooting
5 or more years experience in researching, editing, writing, and developing technical manuals
Experience in Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML)
AutoCad Experience
