Responsibilities

Conduct initial request reviews and clarifications under guidance; assist with routing and coordination

Perform records research and support responsive record searches, compile results for review

Apply redactions and exemptions under supervision; prepare draft response materials and correspondence

Update the FOIA Request Tracker and maintain supporting documentation of work performed

Participate in VA daily updates and required FOIA training; implement feedback promptly to reduce error rates

Required

Associate degree

1+ year FOIA request processing experience within the last 24 months

Strong written and verbal communication; attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures

Proficiency with standard office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn eFOIA tools quickly

Ability to conduct effective internet and records research to support FOIA search and review activities

Must be local to DMV. Primarily remote with occasional on sites in DC

Must be able to obtain VA access (background investigation) and a PIV badge; must sign NDA

Preferred

FOIA-related training and familiarity with basic FOIA exemptions. (Additional FOIA experience may substitute for FOIA training.)

Experience with scanning, file organization, and records research techniques
