The State of Florida is seeking an OPS Regulatory Specialist to handle complex regulatory activities within the Drugs, Devices, & Cosmetic Program. The role involves reviewing and processing applications under the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act and communicating with various stakeholders regarding permitting requirements.

Responsibilities

Reviews, evaluates, and processes Chapter 499 applications and recommends approval or denial of applications from persons submitting applications under the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act
This involves reviewing and analyzing the application, laws, rules, correspondence, reports, etc. to arrive at a recommendation for permitting
This includes processing change of address and name change applications, processing voluntary relinquishments and closures, processing change in Designated Qualifying Practitioner applications, completing license verifications, assigning cash, identifying overpayments for refund, and maintaining a tracking system of the activity for all applications pending decision
Accurately enters all required data into the licensing and imaging system
Includes importing documents to OnBase and accurately indexing the documents
Communicates on a daily basis with the public, department officials, other state agencies and the private sector both verbally and in writing regarding permitting requirements and authorized activity under the Florida Drug and Cosmetic Act
Assist with responding to the division’s Tier-N email box
Assist the Regulatory Supervisor with special projects and assignments, including refund applications, unassigned cash, tracking inspection assignments, and providing status update on applications
Performs other duties as assigned and backs up comparable position in the Drugs, Devices, & Cosmetic Program, which includes answering the Division’s main telephone when needed, and assisting with the review of initial HCCE applications when needed

Required

One (1) year of customer service experience
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Knowledge of Florida Statutes and Board and Department rules governing licensure of professionals in Florida
Knowledge of method of data collection
Ability to understand and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Ability to work independently
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others

Preferred

Experience processing business license/permit applications
