Nutrition Data Manager

The Colorado Department of Education is seeking a Nutrition Data Manager to lead data strategy and governance for the School Nutrition Unit. Responsibilities

Lead Data Strategy and Governance: Develop, implement, and maintain standardized data policies, procedures, and governance practices to ensure accurate, secure, and consistent data collection, reporting, and compliance across the unit
Manage Data Systems and Reporting: Design, maintain, and optimize dashboards, visualizations, and reporting tools in platforms such as Tableau, Smartsheets, Excel, and Google Sheets to support program, leadership, and legislative decision-making
Conduct Program Evaluation and Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data to assess program performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to inform strategic planning, risk assessments, and process improvements
Provide Technical Assistance and Training: Train and support staff, sponsors, and stakeholders on data systems, evaluation tools, and best practices to ensure accurate data use and effective program evaluation
Collaborate and Innovate: Partner with internal and external teams to resolve data inconsistencies, streamline processes, and implement emerging best practices in data management, reporting, and evaluation

Required

Seven (7) years of professional relevant experience in data management or analysis and management of business processes and systems
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business, information technology, management, data analytics, public administration, or a related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in data management or analysis and management of business processes and systems
Experience developing data infrastructure for complex programmatic data
Experience in designing and implementing program evaluation studies
Experience generating Tableau dashboard reports
Strong understanding of data management
Experience working with large, complex datasets
Demonstrated track record of leveraging data and quantitative analysis to inform and drive strategic direction and decision-making in government, nonprofit, or public sector organizations
Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills
Strong problem-solving and project management capabilities
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
Ability to analyze complex information and develop strategic plans to address identified issues
Ability to prioritize and organize work to accommodate and meet the changing needs of the department and meet deadlines
Must be willing and able to submit to the pre-screening process and pass a background check
Work extended schedule per business needs
Report to work location per business needs
Sign the acknowledgment form that this position is funded through federal funds and subject to availability
Valid Driver's License Required: Required to safely operate a motor vehicle to complete travel requirements (percentage 5%)

Preferred

Experience with child nutrition programs or other federally funded education/nutrition programs
Experience in government data management, fiscal accountability systems, or compliance oversight
Experience with SQL, R, or Python, or equivalent analytics tools, and Tableau or Power BI
