Assistant/Associate Professor of Media Production, Management, and Technology (Tenure-Track)
The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Media Production, Management, and Technology at the University of Florida. The role focuses on creative production and teaching undergraduate courses in media production, emphasizing innovative storytelling and the integration of emerging technologies into the curriculum.

Responsibilities
Teaching undergraduate courses in media production (for example filmmaking techniques; camera and lens systems; documentary storytelling; VR/AR production; streaming content creation; mentoring students in hands-on projects; supervising capstone productions)
Graduate teaching candidates are expected to maintain an active agenda of original creative work, secure external funding, and disseminate outputs through festivals, broadcasts, online platforms, or academic conferences
Service duties include department and college committees, advising student media organizations, and contributing to college initiatives and other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
A terminal degree (MFA, Ph.D., or equivalent) in film, media production, or a related field by August 2026
A strong record of creative achievement, such as films, documentaries, programming, or VR experiences
Prior teaching experience with demonstrated ability to inspire students
Technical proficiency in production software (e.g., Adobe Suite, AVID, Unreal Engine or other)
Preferred
Industry experience in producing and or directing features, docs, OTT streaming series, or interactive entertainment
Festival recognition. (mid-major/major)

University-level teaching awards
Teaching experience at AAU institutions — AAU (Association of American Universities)
