K-6 Learning Specialist

Cabot Public Schools is seeking a K-6 Learning Specialist to provide support in behavioral and academic areas, as well as student intervention. This role involves collaborating with teachers and administration to enhance the academic and social growth of students through various support programs and data collection efforts.
Primary/Secondary Education

Responsibilities

Encourage and support students to set and maintain standards of attendance and behavior
Support students, teachers, and administrators in promoting positive behavior and creating a conducive learning environment
Collaborate with teachers to address specific behavioral concerns in the classroom
Work with school teams to develop and implement school-wide positive behavior support programs
Assist administration and classroom teachers in behavior strategies
Collaborate with the administration team to cultivate an environment of inclusion for all students through supervision, education, and student discipline
Attend staff meetings and serve on building committees as required
Enhance the capacity of their team (students, teachers, staff) to work interdependently to achieve common goals for which team members hold themselves mutually accountable
Support building administration in facilitating groups of adult learners, build relationships with building staff and manage conflict when necessary to move the team forward
Provides supervision with the implementation of the attendance and student behavior programs and procedures which includes collecting data and using data to make decisions
Serve as a member of the school's Intervention team in the development and implementation of Tier II and Tier III supports
Implement and administer state laws and district policies and procedures
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
Work collaboratively with the District Assessment Coordinator in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of data and assessment systems
Work collaboratively with the District K-6 504 Coordinator in the creation, implementation, and monitoring of building 504 plans
Administer Level II Dyslexia assessments and work collaboratively with the District Dyslexia Coordinator
Collaborate with school leadership to analyze school-wide data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide interventions
Develop detailed learning and support plans in cooperation with students and families for those students who qualify for an intensive reading intervention plan and/or an intensive math intervention plan
Disaggregate data to inform instructional decisions in relation to Tier II and Tier III supports
Monitor 504 plans and ensure the implementation of these in classrooms for students
Maintain proper records for 504 compliance
Maintain proper records for dyslexia compliance
Assist with monitoring average daily attendance data and actively partner with stakeholders in the development and implementation of student attendance support systems including intervention and support conferences for the purposes of improving student attendance
Maintain accounts, and create schedules and systems for administering assessments
Manage student assessment systems to include student uploads, teacher accounts, and upload of data to other data programs
Support teams in accessing, analyzing, and interpreting this data
Prepare reports for school administrators and other stakeholders

Successful Test Administration
Coordination and management of student 504 plans
Intervention schedule
Data worksheets and reports in relation to standardized testing
Intensive Reading Intervention plans and Intensive Math Intervention plans
Data wall records and assessments
Communication with administration and staff
Mid year progress meetings and End of year results meetings will be held with Central Office administrators

Qualification

Required

K-6 Teaching certification and relevant state licensure
Must have a minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience
Must have demonstrated outstanding instructional skills and be widely viewed as an exceptional teacher that commands the respect of those with whom they will work
Must have a history of being a positive contributor to the culture of the school community
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Professional behavior must support all aspects of the district's direction
Must demonstrate leadership skills as well as strong organizational skills for keeping accurate records, documenting interventions, and preparing reports

Preferred

Master's degree in Education
Teaching experience at more than one grade level
Experience working with elementary school students in an educational setting; experience with dyslexia intervention
