Director of Operations & Project Management (Field Execution)
My Backyard Sports is seeking a Director of Operations & Project Management (Field Execution) to oversee the delivery of outdoor living and construction projects. This role involves project ownership, field execution, budget control, and customer onboarding, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
Own projects from contract handoff through completion
Confirm scope, drawings, site conditions, assumptions, and execution plans
Ensure projects are built exactly as sold and documented
Resolve execution issues proactively before escalation
Lead on-site execution and subcontractor coordination
Conduct site visits to verify quality, progress, and compliance
Prevent rework, scope creep, and undocumented changes
Coordinate inspections and field sequencing
Track job budgets, committed costs, and remaining balances
Monitor labor, materials, and subcontractor spend
Identify margin risks and cost overruns early
Ensure invoices and change orders are properly documented
Own the project management system as the system of record
Ensure scopes, budgets, schedules, approvals, and documents are current
Enforce consistent system usage across teams and vendors
Maintain clean, audit-ready project records
Build and manage execution schedules across multiple concurrent projects
Coordinate labor, subcontractors, materials, and inspections
Resolve conflicts and capacity constraints proactively
Request, review, and validate vendor and subcontractor quotes
Confirm scope alignment, pricing accuracy, and lead times
Coordinate material ordering and delivery
Lead the post-sale onboarding process
Confirm scope, assumptions, access, timelines, and expectations
Serve as the primary execution contact during construction
Identify execution, budget, schedule, and scope risks early
Implement mitigation plans
Escalate material risks promptly with recommended solutions
Authorized to make day-to-day execution decisions within the approved scope and budget
Authorized to coordinate vendors, schedules, and inspections
Not authorized to modify pricing, scope, or contractual terms without written approval
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in construction, engineering, outdoor living, or home services operations
Proven experience managing field execution and project delivery, not just administrative PM work
Experience managing multiple concurrent construction or home services projects
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site conditions, subcontractor coordination, and inspections
Strong scheduling, budgeting, and vendor coordination skills
Clear written and verbal communication Applicants without hands-on construction, engineering, or home services experience will not be considered
