Head of Design
SANA Detroit is an apparel brand focused on culture, sport, and timeless design, seeking a Head of Design to lead their creative and design efforts. The role involves managing the creative vision for collections, maintaining brand consistency, and overseeing a team of graphic designers while collaborating across various functions.

Responsibilities
Lead creative direction across all SANA collections (men’s, women’s, accessories, collaborations)
Define and evolve SANA’s design language while protecting brand equity
Develop seasonal concepts, narratives, and collection themes
Ensure cohesion across graphics, typography, color palettes, silhouettes, and materials
Provide final creative approval on all design work
Oversee all garment graphics, logos, trims, and design systems
Direct design across tees, fleece, outerwear, headwear, and accessories
Ensure designs translate effectively from concept to production
Partner with production teams to maintain quality and execution
Manage and mentor a team of graphic designers
Establish clear workflows, timelines, and creative standards
Provide structured feedback and guidance
Elevate team performance and creative output
Collaborate with marketing on campaigns, launches, and product storytelling
Align with merchandising and product teams on assortment and design direction
Support collaborations and special projects
Contribute to photoshoot direction and visual references when needed
Qualification
Required
4+ years of experience in the clothing / apparel brand industry
Proven experience in a senior design or creative leadership role
Strong understanding of apparel design, construction, and production processes
Experience leading or mentoring designers
Ability to think in full collections, not individual products
Strong communication and presentation skills
