Senior Scientist — Photonics & Nonlinear Optics
Quantum People is seeking a Senior Scientist in Photonics & Nonlinear Optics to join their collaborative R&D environment focused on innovative waveguide-based technologies. The role involves leading experimental work, developing concepts in nonlinear photonics, and guiding technology roadmap development while mentoring a technical team.
Responsibilities
Developing innovative concepts in nonlinear and electro‑optic photonics
Leading experimental work on waveguide-based devices
Guiding technology roadmap development
Acting as a subject-matter expert and mentor within a growing technical team
Producing high‑quality data and technical outputs to drive decision‑making
Qualification
Required
Academic pathways (Master's or PhD) with hands-on research experience are highly relevant
PhD preferred — especially in photonics, nonlinear optics, electro‑optic devices, or closely related fields
Experience in the modulator space is a significant advantage
Includes years spent during graduate research
Proven work in optics/photonics R&D environments
Expertise in waveguides, nonlinear optics, EO modulation, periodic poling, RF photonics, or similar domains
Ability to produce clear, defensible, high‑quality technical documentation
Experience writing proposals, papers, or reporting on complex experimental results
Demonstrated success working with multidisciplinary teams (R&D, engineering, manufacturing, leadership)
Natural ability to translate deep technical insights to both experts and non‑experts
Independent problem solver with original, creative thinking
Self‑motivated, proactive, and excited by innovation
Able to lead and influence technical direction within R&D initiatives
