Diesel and Small Engine Technician

Bartron Supply Inc. is a Bobcat, TYM Exmark and other brands equipment dealer seeking an experienced equipment technician. The qualified technician will be responsible for servicing machines, diagnosing, and repairing equipment.

Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel‑system issues on diesel and small‑engine equipment, including lawn & garden machines, compact tractors, skid steers, mini excavators, and utility vehicles
Complete scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, belt and blade inspections, and seasonal tune‑ups
Inspect equipment for wear, safety concerns, and upcoming service needs to reduce downtime for customers
Prepare equipment for seasonal use, including winterization and spring start‑up procedures
Repair and maintain small engines found in mowers, snowthrowers, generators, handheld equipment, and compact utility machines
Rebuild carburetors, replace ignition components, adjust linkages, and perform fuel‑system cleaning and repair
Diagnose and repair hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, hoses, and cylinders
Test and repair electrical systems including starters, alternators, wiring harnesses, sensors, and control modules
Perform repairs on engines, drivetrains, cooling systems, electrical components, steering, suspension, and hydraulic circuits
Troubleshoot no‑start conditions, performance issues, fuel contamination, and winter‑related failures
Identify required parts and work with the parts department to ensure accurate ordering
Document all repairs, diagnostics, and recommendations in the service system with clear, detailed notes
Maintain accurate time logs and follow warranty procedures when applicable
Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, equipment lockout/tagout, and safe lifting practices
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
Stay current on manufacturer updates, service bulletins, and training opportunities

Required

Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, gasoline and diesel engines, and electrical diagnostics
Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and wiring diagrams
Solid mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
Basic computer proficiency for service software, parts lookup, and digital work orders
Strong organizational habits and the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace
Clear, professional communication skills with positive customer and team interactions
Reliable, self‑motivated work ethic with the ability to work independently or with a team
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform hands‑on mechanical tasks
Must have knowledge of diesel engine repair and small engine repair (lawnmowers, farm equipment, construction equipment, etc.)
Technician must provide their own tools. Specialty tools are provided by the dealership
Background check and clean driving record required
