DVT Engineer

Responsibilities

Conduct factory witness testing (FWT) with assistance from Test Engineers
Creation of Design Verification Test (DVT) plans with new product development teams
Plan and oversee performance testing then utilize the results to validate designs, system controls, and analytical performance models
Participate in design and implementation of lab test facility upgrades and expansions, including training of new test engineers & technicians
Collaborate across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, DVT’s, technology R&D, and customer witness tests
Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements, which may include stress calculations, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
Develops solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required
Occasional use of CFD/FEA and CAD software
Work with software team to develop and verify system controls
Implement test activities to solve field issues, support service department
Component verification testing for design changes and alternate suppliers
Create and validate analytical performance models

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or directly related degree
Understand electrical schematic and pneumatic drawings (P&ID)
Understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
International travel ~10%

Preferred

Career experience in new product development and/or testing as an individual contributor
Experience with analytical performance models, various heat transfer fluids (water, glycol, refrigerant)
Experience writing performance test requests
Knowledge of psychometric chart and (HCFC/HFC) refrigeration cycles
Basic knowledge of CFD and/or FEA software, as well as 3D CAD software
International travel ~20%
