Responsibilities
Provide coaching support (demonstration lessons, classroom visitations, and professional development) for English Language Arts/ELD teachers, grades 6-12
Collaboratively help teachers plan standards-aligned lessons
Support grade level or department meetings at secondary schools
Support implementation of district-approved curriculum
Support development and implementation of the district’s common formative assessments, and assist with analysis of assessments to improve instruction and student learning
Design/facilitate professional development in ELA/ELD and evidence-based instructional practices
Design/facilitate committee work and summer institutes that focus on implementation of the Common Core State Standards in ELA/ELD
Design/facilitate presentations on ELA/ELD for Parent Education Nights
Learn about and include methods to accelerate learning and language development of English Learners and Students with Special Needs
Demonstrated knowledge of the ELPAC and its administration in order to interpret its results to facilitate appropriate placement of English Learner students in elementary and secondary course pathways
Support development and implementation of the district’s common formative assessments and assist with analysis of assessments to improve instruction and student learning
Maintain current knowledge of developments in the area of English language acquisition and/or culturally relevant teaching
Attend monthly professional development on work-related responsibilities such as classroom coaching and observation, designing/delivering professional development, facilitating department and teacher meetings, English Learners and Students with Special Needs, Common Core State Standards, and adult learning theory
Support the implementation of Single System of Support (MTSS) efforts
Support district level adoption cycles and curriculum implementation
Ability to support AVID implementation across the school district
Qualification
Required
Appropriate California Single Subject English Credential is required
At least one of the following authorizations to teach English Learners: CLAD, BCLAD, AB2913 training (formerly SB395 OR SB1969) or SB2042 EL Authorization
Applicants who do not have a valid credential the first day of the school year will not be considered
30-day Substitute Credentials are NOT valid credentials for contracted positions in our district
