Senior CNC Machinist/Programmer

FREDON CORPORATION is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior CNC Machinist/Programmer to join their dynamic manufacturing team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the setup, operation, and programming of CNC machines to produce precision components, driving efficiency and quality in production processes.

Responsibilities

Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines and/or CNC lathes using industry-standard software such as Fanuc and Okuma OSP controls in addition to CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming tools
Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and specifications to ensure precise manufacturing
Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions and quality standards
Conduct troubleshooting on CNC equipment, perform routine maintenance, and optimize machining processes for maximum efficiency
Select appropriate tooling and tooling setups; adjust machine parameters to achieve desired tolerances and surface finishes
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturing workflows using lean manufacturing principles
Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, inspection reports, and machine logs to ensure traceability and compliance

Required

Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or Programmer with extensive knowledge of CNC lathe and milling machine operations
Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code; experience with Fanuc and Okuma OSP controls is highly desirable
Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawings
Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
Ability to interpret technical documents accurately and apply basic math skills for measurements and calculations
Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of tooling selection, fixture setup, and machining best practices
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment safely
Commitment to safety standards in a manufacturing environment; willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives like lean manufacturing practices

Preferred

Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, welding techniques, and assembly procedures is a plus
Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or CAD programs for part design review
