Responsibilities

"Hands-On" commitment to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Warehouse Department
Plan, manage, and maintain layout of stockrooms, warehouse, and storage areas (freezers, refrigerators/coolers)
Design and implement workflow and procedures; adjust as needed for continuous improvement and productivity
Advises staff on care and preservation of food and ingredient items received including all perishables, stored and shipped according to safety and sanitation specifications
Train and coach staff in the correct use of industrial equipment; including industrial counterbalance forklifts, manual and electric pallet jacks, and pallet wrap machines
Assign duties and examines work for exactness, accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures, issues oral and written directions as appropriate
Access and standardize procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Review records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels
Investigate history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve discrepancies
Maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure good, reliable sources of supply and information
Manager warehouse administrative tasks and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
Ensure thorough and complete tracking and recording of inventory records to provide accurate accounting of all purchased food products and ingredients using FIFO/FEFO methods, cycle counts, and spoilage reduction practices
Plan, schedule, and enforce employee work schedules based upon forecasted volumes; and
Hire, train, and guide purchasing personnel on proper food purchasing, receiving, and storage procedures established by Fresh & Ready Foods
Provide regular and periodic employee work performance evaluations
Identify opportunities and find solutions for continuous improvement
Comply and enter information into electronic systems and prepare reports when necessary
Address and respond promptly to needs and inquiries of management
Identify and respond to problems with appropriate action and timely follow-up
Assist in the review of departmental process to seek improvements
Support department and company-based goals which contribute to the success of Fresh & Ready Foods
Always maintain the strictest confidentiality on matters pertaining to the company and its customers, vendors, distributors, and staff
Promote by example the principles of Fresh & Ready Foods
Ensure that office and work areas are always kept clean, safeguarding confidential information and documents
Consistently demonstrate professional verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Problem-solve, organize and balance multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
Maintain composure when handling unexpected challenges and competing demands
Perform additional functions that may be assigned at the discretion of management and executive team

Required

5+ years of warehouse management experience in food manufacturing or perishable distribution
Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cold storage operations
Experience with inventory systems, and labor scheduling tools
Forklift certification or ability to obtain
Strong leadership, accountability, and decision-making skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations, or related field
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience in fresh, refrigerated, or frozen food manufacturing environments
