Corrections Electronics Systems Supervisor

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all Minnesotans. They are seeking a Corrections Electronics Systems Supervisor to plan, direct, and oversee the maintenance and repair of electronic and security systems within a correctional facility.
Public Safety

Responsibilities

Supervise staff in accordance with facility goals, operational needs, agency policies and applicable labor agreements
Supervise, coordinate and keep detailed records of the electrical, electronics, and security computer network system work performed and maintained so that all systems and equipment operate at a maximum efficiency. Documentation of work drawings and projects will be created and maintained to provide historical records of system changes
Oversee the telecommunication and voicemail systems
Administer and control unit’s expenditures
Provide advanced level technical skills in the support of personal computer touch screen bubble control of all doors, cameras, intercom communication, and cell duress alarms
Maintain 2200 KW and 1800 KW electrical generators for facility
Continue professional development and maintain proficiency in the networking and communications fields
Maintain and provide system analysis, in managing multiple local area networks (LANs) in Plant Operations
Supervise installation and technical support of PC based networked systems within a security environment
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems involving network hardware and software, building automation, security, and communications equipment

Required

Power Limited Technician license OR ability to obtain this licensure within the probationary period and three (3) years or more work experience in installing, calibrating, configuring, maintaining and repairing electronics equipment. Two of the three years of work experience must have been obtained within the last ten years
Working knowledge and experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical distribution equipment, perimeter security systems, complex electronic devices, closed circuit television, telephone and master antenna systems and electronic equipment
Knowledge of standard practices, materials, test equipment, and tools used to construct, install, calibrate, configure, troubleshoot, repair and maintain complex electronics equipment sufficient to oversee this work and assure safe, efficient and reliable equipment operation
Basic knowledge of computer network administration sufficient to oversee the installation and configuration of computer hardware and software and the administration of local area networks for building and security systems
Knowledge of State of Minnesota building code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and state A Workplace Accident and Injury Reduction (AWAIR) Act provisions
Organizational skills sufficient to prioritize and complete work requests; administer a preventative maintenance program; and maintain complete and accurate records
Oral communication skills sufficient to clearly communicate work assignments; provide feedback on work; and provide management with updates on work projects
Written communication skills sufficient to write specifications and technical reports
Ability to plan and supervise the work of employees in licensed building trades and other occupations
Ability to read and interpret project specifications and drawings
Ability to purchase and maintain an adequate inventory of electrical, electronics, building and grounds maintenance equipment, supplies and tools

Preferred

Three (3) years or more work experience in installing, calibrating, configuring, maintaining and repairing electronics equipment
Electronics/electrical experience in a correctional or secured environment including experience with perimeter security systems, doors, video cameras and video recorders
Experience with fire alarm systems, computer network systems and building automation system
One or more years of experience providing supervision or lead work to subordinate staff sufficient to assign and review work; manage work performance; and design work plans
Knowledge of work order management software
Experience in project management
