LSE Technical Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Intern - Nuclear Materials

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will provide support to mobile nuclear facilities, including designing and optimizing systems and components, while also producing reports and presentations as required.

Responsibilities

Provide mechanical engineering support to mobile nuclear facilities, to include designing and optimizing systems and components
Provide troubleshooting and hands on installation
Produce and present written and oral reports and presentations as required
May interface with SRNL leadership, federal oversight resources, and other DOE complex sites
Ensure all activities adhere to SRNL safety, quality, records, and training programs
Some travel may be required
Support project managers in ensuring compliance with project standards, policies, and procedures
Coordinate project activities and resources, including tasks, schedules, deliverables

Required

Working toward a Bachelor's degree with a focus in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related field
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to collaborate and contribute to a team of engineers, technicians, metallurgists, project managers, and other support staff
Highly effective communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with strong initiative
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Minimum age of 18
3.0 GPA
Must be authorized to work in the U.S

Preferred

Proficiency with design and drafting software
Experience or coursework in heat transfer
