Responsibilities

Conduct investigations and respond to complaints related to private investigative and security services
Review, analyze, and respond to regulatory, enforcement, and licensing inquiries from licensees, applicants, law enforcement, Board staff, and the public
Compile detailed investigative reports, findings, and recommendations for management and Board review
Analyze data related to the private investigative and security industry to support enforcement and regulatory decisions
Process license applications, renewals, training certifications, and related administrative functions
Ensure compliance with Minnesota Statutes 326.32–326.339 and Administrative Rules 7506.0100–7506.2900
Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as needed on regulatory and enforcement matters
Provide statutory, regulatory, and policy guidance to local law enforcement regarding private security and investigative services
Represent the Board by presenting information at public meetings, industry conferences, contested case hearings, and legislative hearings

Required

One (1) year of experience in law enforcement, auditing, or investigations. Associate level degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field may substitute for 6 months of experience
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and with public presentations
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint

Preferred

Three to five years' work experience conducting investigations or auditing
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ideal candidate will have significant prior private security/investigations industry experience or prior law enforcement/investigative experience to address the nuances of identifying deception, following relevant leads, understanding and applying conflict/interpersonal dynamics balanced by the exactness of statutes or regulations and be willing to educate individuals on the nuances of regulations and training as may be needed
