Responsibilities
Prepare and process prepaids, accruals, and general ledger entries
Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy
Update and maintain cash balances weekly once core responsibilities are mastered
Maintain accurate general ledger account balances and perform corrections as needed
Prepare monthly financial statements (cash or accrual basis) in accordance with GAAP
Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations and insights
Respond to reporting requirements from owners, investors, lenders, and agencies (including HUD)
Maintain supporting schedules including Fixed Assets, Insurance, Taxes , and more
Assist with year-end audits and coordinate with external auditors
Provide accounting guidance to property managers and serve as a business partner
Review and oversee vendor invoices to ensure proper GL coding and expense classification
Work closely with internal teams including asset management and senior leadership
Ensure detailed documentation to support a clear audit trail
Qualification
Required
3+ years of property accounting experience (multi-family preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (flexibility for strong experience)
Experience with Yardi property management software
Skilled in prepaids, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Strong time management skills with proven ownership and accountability
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Preferred
Experience within multi-family real estate (no commercial real estate)
Strong communication skills with a customer-service and business partner mindset
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
