Responsibilities

Operationally checks repaired or modified systems for proper operation
Performs quality maintenance on assigned avionics and electrical systems in accordance with federal aviation regulations, original equipment manufacturers, or military technical orders as specified in the statement of work instructions
Repair and replace electrical and avionics components, such as directional gyros, and functional components including engine torque indicators, fuel quantity indicators, radios and course indicator units, etc. using required tools, power tools, machines, and associated equipment
Read and interpret manufacturers' and maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
Examine all flight systems for air worthiness and reliability, and service all flight systems required to operate engines, flight controls, navigation aids to detect and diagnose malfunctions
Inspect batteries and charging systems to detect and faults or weaknesses
Test airplane navigation systems with approved troubleshooting procedures and diagnostic test equipment, to identify source of malfunction
Repair or replace defective Radios and communication parts and components
Perform miscellaneous duties as required to service aircraft
May specialize in work, repair and modification of flight attitude indicators, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies
Perform other qualified duties as assigned
This classification activity, while normally accomplished in a typical aviation maintenance environment, may require travel to and between remote location(s) in austere environments, CONUS and OCONUS locations, and require the individual to work outside the shop environment

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Six (6) or more years' airplane avionics and electrical experience as a technician on assigned aircraft required, five (5) years preferred or more on DHC-8/300 Series, H/UH/HH-60 helicopters and UV-18 airplanes
Qualified by the appropriate USG armed forces airplane avionics and electrical course or civilian equivalent training
Recent full-time experience in aviation maintenance with the assigned aircraft during the past 12 months
2 years (2) of flight line and overhaul & inspection experience minimum as required
Ability to pass and maintain solder certification
Willingness to travel
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be required to operate a government general purpose vehicle
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
Knowledge of airplane sub-systems, including maintenance parameter, systems operation, limitations, and technical orders
Must be functional capable with service, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of the following components of manufacturers Ametek and Ametek Western Indicators, Airesearch Controllers, Aerosonic Indicators, Collins Navigation Systems, Bendix Transmitters, Honeywell/Sperry Guidance/Navigation Systems, Brion Leroux Indicators, General Design Turn & Slip Indicators, Grimes Power Supply, Davtron Electronics, Aero-Mechanism Altimeters, Sextant Gyros, Teledyne V.S.I., Bendix /King Gyros, Simmonds Precision Fuel Quantity Systems, and others as required
Ability to read, write, and interpret technical duties is required
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees throughout the organization
Proven track record demonstrating adaptability to change and the ability to respond to challenges in a changing environment

Preferred

Completion of formal maintenance training on assigned aircraft is desired
FCC License highly desired and may be required
