Responsibilities

Provide nuclear engineering support and technical expertise in radiation detection systems to ensure safe, efficient operations
Provide technical support in measuring and recording various exposure and/or dosage levels associated with sealed radioactive materials
Perform radiological calculations or modeling as requested
Design a task that aims to describe and explain the variation of information under conditions that are hypothesized to reflect the variation
Collect data from various sources, including historical records, and manage information to support project and facility operational needs
Produce and present written and oral reports and presentations as required
May interface with SRNL leadership, federal oversight resources, and other DOE complex sites
Ensure all activities adhere to SRNL safety, quality, records, and training programs
Support project managers in ensuring compliance with project standards, policies, and procedures
Coordinate project activities and resources, including tasks, schedules, deliverables

Required

Working toward a bachelor's degree with a focus in nuclear engineering, nuclear engineering technology, or a closely related field
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to collaborate and contribute to a team of engineers, scientists, project managers, and other support staff
Highly effective communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with strong initiative
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Minimum age of 18
Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred

Experience with nuclear facility protocols
Familiarity with the characteristics of plutonium and other actinides
