Responsibilities
Design and build public-facing and partner-facing APIs that support real-time, mission-critical data exchange
Help evolve an API marketplace that exposes services securely, consistently, and at scale
Modernize legacy or batch-oriented workflows into event-driven, API-first architectures
Collaborate across engineering, architecture, security, and platform teams to ensure systems are reliable, performant, and compliant
Contribute to architectural decisions around scalability, fault tolerance, observability, and integration patterns
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated career progression in backend or software engineering roles
Clear examples of increasing responsibility, technical ownership, and impact
Ability to articulate how you've solved complex system or architectural challenges over time
Experience building and maintaining large-scale enterprise systems
Proven ability to address challenges related to scalability and high availability
Proven ability to address challenges related to multi-system and third-party integrations
Proven ability to address challenges related to data flow optimization
Proven ability to address challenges related to fault tolerance and resiliency
Strong experience designing, building, and optimizing REST APIs
Familiarity with API integration strategies, versioning, security, and governance
Hands-on experience deploying backend systems in the cloud
Strong experience with AWS core services such as Lambda, ECS, S3, DynamoDB, or similar
Professional experience working across multiple programming languages, including Java
Professional experience working across multiple programming languages, including Golang
Professional experience working across multiple programming languages, including TypeScript
Supporting experience in Python, JavaScript, Node.js, or similar
Ability to clearly explain prior challenges related to performance bottlenecks
Ability to clearly explain prior challenges related to concurrency and throughput
Ability to clearly explain prior challenges related to distributed systems behavior
Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automated deployments
Focus on reliability, repeatability, and production readiness
Preferred
GraphQL experience is a strong plus but not required
Familiarity with modern Angular frameworks (role remains backend-first but will be 10-20% front end development)
Experience with Oracle, SQL, or large-scale data processing systems
Hands-on use of Docker and containerized deployments
Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or workflows
Strong testing discipline, including unit, integration, and performance testing
