Fire Risk Reduction Specialist (Operations & Policy Analyst 3) - 2 positions
The State of Oregon's Department of the State Fire Marshal is seeking two Fire Risk Reduction Specialists to help protect communities from wildfire risks. The role involves preparing communities by identifying and prioritizing fire risks and enhancing structural resiliency to wildfires.

Responsibilities
Prepare communities for wildfire by identifying, defining, and prioritizing the risk to Oregon communities
Utilize an integrated and strategic investment of resources to reduce fire occurrence and impact
Focus on improvement of structural resiliency to wildfire, enhancement of defensible space for homes and surrounding structures, ensuring adequate access and egress in the event of wildfire events, and overall improvement of structural fire prevention efforts through community risk reduction efforts
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work
Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification
Requires a valid drivers' license with an acceptable driving record
The expectation for this position is that employee will be able to maintain a 45-minute or less response time to the border of their district
Complete FEMA – Emergency Management Institute Independent Study Courses 100, 200, 700, and 800 within six (6) months of hire
Complete National Fire Academy online course: Intro to Community Risk Reduction within six (6) months of hire
Complete National Fire Academy online course: Intro into Community Risk Assessment within six (6) months of hire
Complete National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) S-130 Firefighter Training (Wildland) and S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior within one (1) year of hire
The Ember Alliance 'Leading the Modern CWPP Process' course or equivalent within one (1) year of hire
Fire Instructor - I; M-410 or equivalent within one (1) year of hire
Coalitions and Collaboratives Community Wildfire Mitigation Best Practices long course within one (1) year of hire
Complete NIMS and/or NWCG training for Liaison Officer (LOFR) position within two (2) years of hire
NWCG S-290 Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior within two (2) years of hire
ICS-300 Intermediate Incident Command System and ICS-400 Advanced Incident Command System within two (2) years of hire
Preferred
Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist (CWMS) credential through the Nation Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
Qualified to serve on a Community Mitigation Assistance Team (CMAT)
