Responsibilities
Work with data science teams at corporates and start-ups to assess the quality of the implementation of the machine learning systems
Estimate the probability of predictions falling short compared to the actual outcomes or quantify the hallucination rate of GenAI applications
Build relationships with leading research institutions in the area of statistics and computer science
Contribute to the team’s research and academic publications
Keep the team up to date with the latest developments in the area of machine learning risk quantification, e.g. model error or hallucinations rate assessments, copyright infringement by GenAI models, and AI discrimination risk
Qualification
Required
PhD degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or related fields
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a data scientist role with start-up companies or as part of a graduate degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or related fields
Excellent understanding of modern machine learning and GenAI techniques, best practices in their implementation at scale and performance evaluation
Excellent understanding of conformal prediction and other distribution-free uncertainty quantification approaches and their limitations
Excellent networking and stakeholder management skills
Excellent abstract reasoning and communication skills
Ability to reduce complexity and communicate concisely the most important points of a deal opportunity to senior management
Excellent project management skills
Strong negotiation skills
Strong ability to quickly understand new and complex business cases
Good working proficiency in Python, or comparable programming languages
Fluency in English is a must, fluency in German a plus
Highly ambitious, entrepreneurial, and innovative mindset, curiosity and drive
Didactic and intercultural competence
Willingness to work in deal teams distributed across different time zones and continents
