Responsibilities
Own and enhance a large, production ColdFusion codebase
Improve performance, security, and scalability
Modernize architecture incrementally (not rewrite-and-pray)
Integrate APIs, data sources, and AI-assisted features
Help shape technical standards and development discipline
Design, develop, and maintain ColdFusion (CFML) applications
Support and enhance a mission-critical internal CRM/ATS/ERP-style system
Optimize SQL queries and database interactions (SQL Server preferred)
Implement security best practices, role-based access, and audit controls
Integrate third-party services and internal APIs
Participate in modernization initiatives (code refactoring, architecture cleanup, performance tuning)
Collaborate with leadership on technical decisions and roadmaps
Document systems, workflows, and technical decisions clearly
Qualification
Required
5+ years of professional ColdFusion (CFML) development
Strong experience with Adobe ColdFusion (Lucee a plus)
Solid SQL skills (SQL Server preferred)
Experience maintaining and improving legacy systems
Comfort working in a business-critical production environment
Ability to think in systems, not just tickets
Clear communication and documentation skills
Preferred
Experience modernizing legacy applications
JavaScript, HTML, CSS familiarity
REST API development and consumption
Experience working with business stakeholders (non-technical users)
Exposure to AI integrations, automation, or data enrichment
Familiarity with security, access controls, and compliance-minded environments
