Responsibilities
Receives purchase orders from purchasing and utilizes that information to find carriers to pick up freight. Invoices negotiations of freight rates and pickup and delivery times
Returns phone calls/emails and maintains communication with trucking companies, vendors and Hy-Vee purchasing keeping everyone informed
Coordinates shipper information with carrier and/or dispatch
Assists in calling for truck capacity for all areas in which Hy-Vee is picking up freight
Invoice reconciliation
Investigate and process detention requests
Required to rotate the department after-hours phone
Reports to work when scheduled and on time
Track and update vendor allowances
Monitors freight exception reports
Coverage for other desks in the department during holidays and vacations
Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
Qualification
Required
High School or equivalent experience
One to three years of similar or related work experience
Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; logical thinking to solve problems; interpret instructions
Must have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
Must have the ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; make appointments; and guide people and provide basic direction
Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body
Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 10 feet or more with or without correction
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Fingering, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
