Responsibilities

Formulates, articulates, directs and executes the branch office Operational Plan in order to meet branch, division and corporate objectives
Develop, direct and coach assigned staff, to include establishing performance objectives and clear success criteria, as well as monitoring performance outcomes and addressing issues appropriately
Lead by example in communicating with staff. Encourage open dialogue in staff meetings and 1:1 discussions
The Regional Vice President must clearly articulate a vision that others find compelling and motivating, in order to achieve desired results
Provides direction and assists the Territory Managers with identifying, recruiting, and appointing new agencies in order to maintain strong agency representation
Identifies and understands current developments and trends within the insurance industry and branch operating territory, and formulates and directs actions against trends, in order to meet operational objectives
Drives organizational results by supporting corporate initiatives and engaging employees and inspiring their adoption
Drives execution and is responsible for achieving profitable operating results derived from premium growth, in order to support branch office operating expense, within applicable division and corporate guidelines
Drives execution of new business production from assigned new business agents
Challenges popular values, opinions, and decisions to ensure that actions taken are in the organization’s best interests; diplomatically says what needs to be said even in the face of pressure or conflict; offers direct and candid feedback
Takes critical action to achieve breakthrough results despite the uncertainty of outcomes; confronts difficult problems early
Proactively addresses and resolves various types of Agency issues while maintaining and nurturing positive agency/company relationships, in order to maintain strong agency representation
Builds a culture that supports the application of data analytics
Controls the compilation and evaluation of competitor information, in order to aid the Home Office in developing marketing strategies and profitability goals
Provides oversight to the data analytics process, ensuring appropriate statistical techniques and methods are used
Provides organizational direction on utilizing data to provide business insights
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Vice President Field Operations
Accepts personal risks and/or consequences of failure and persists even in the face of opposition or fear
Asks for others’ opinions and ideas to gain their commitment and encourage responsibility; unleashes ideas through questioning
Seeks out opportunities throughout the organization to capitalize on data and drive analytic efforts

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or similar discipline required
Minimum of 10-years managerial experience within the property/casualty insurance industry, preferably within commercial lines (i.e. Underwriting Manager, Territory Manager, etc.)
Proven experience in the cultivation, establishment and retention of solid agency and customer relationships required
Proven ability in leading personnel towards the attainment of operational and strategic objectives
Demonstrated mastery of underwriting concepts and principles, with a focus on commercial lines
Exceptional knowledge of company underwriting standards and philosophy
Exceptional knowledge of all commercial and personal lines insurance coverages
Effective negotiation skills
Good PC skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite
Must be able to perform computer-based tasks and access digital information necessary for job duties, including through the use of assistive technologies
Must be able to complete computer-based tasks and utilize office equipment as needed to perform essential job functions
Must be able to access and enter information accurately using automated systems
Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external clients using telephone, electronic, or other communication systems
Must be able to present information to individuals and groups
Must be able to interpret and apply concepts that may or may not be based upon established guidelines
Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle

Preferred

Insurance designation such as CPCU, ARM, CIC preferred
