Responsibilities

Write headlines, captions and display type for print pages
Copy edit stories across Page Six, Lifestyle, Entertainment and Arts & Culture — both short and feature-length
Take charge of visually dynamic print layouts for the newspaper
Fact check and proofread stories with speed and accuracy
Ensure consistency with AP and house styles
Collaborate with reporters, editors and digital producers to maintain Post standards
Jump into breaking news and high-volume moments with flexibility and calm

Required

2–5 years of experience in copy editing, proofreading and fact checking on tight deadlines
Strong command of grammar, spelling, punctuation and style (AP knowledge a must)
2-5 years of experience creating pages for print publication
Comfort with layout tools and editorial formatting for print
Comfort taking charge of a page's design and content
Skilled at writing headlines, decks, captions, etc
A sense of humor and of what makes a great story and headline
Experience in digital editing (WordPress/CMS) or a willingness to learn
Familiarity with pop culture, celebrities and NYC's cultural scene
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
