Volunteer and Program Coordinator
TEXAS YES Project is focused on supporting the educational journey of economically disadvantaged students, and they are seeking a Volunteer and Program Coordinator. This role involves coordinating and training volunteers for various events and programs, while also supporting the Program Director.
Responsibilities
Serves as a point of contact for all volunteers and the general audience
Recruit and trains volunteers for programs and events in all markets
Events and programs include but are not limited to comic cons, charity poker tournaments, school supply distribution, readers, book stockers, gala, and golf tournament(s)
Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, forms, and documents related to programs and events
Research, create, and edit organizational publications such as brochures, forms, and manuals
Maintains an accurate volunteer database to support development and recruitment processes
Oversee the scheduling, logistics, and work of volunteers
Evaluates volunteer opportunities and provides ongoing assessment
Works with colleagues to identify and publicize opportunities for volunteers and volunteer programs
Provides consistent, up-to-date information to volunteers regarding organizational announcements, events, policies, and procedures
Prepare reports on the impact of volunteers for programs and events
Other duties as needed or required
Qualification
Required
A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience and/or training with a focus on volunteer coordination and training within a service organization or office environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability of multitasking between projects and departments
Familiar with volunteer platforms for managing 500+ volunteers
Intermediate skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google applications
Ability to participate in meetings, work in a team environment and interact with all levels of staff, volunteers, and the public
Ability to speak effectively before large groups of people
Ability to transport materials and other supplies to and from meetings and events
Possesses a positive attitude and outwardly supports the mission of organization through their professional performance and appearance
Ability to attend events and meetings that are outside of the regular Monday - Friday office workday and hours
Ability to drive a car, maintain reliable transportation and a current driver's license
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
Related experience can be in place of a degree
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs for events and programming
Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours
Preferred
Preferred experience with marketing software and social media engagement
