Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Airflow to orchestrate complex workflows across our data ecosystem
Develop and optimize data models in dbt, implementing best practices for testing, documentation, and version control
Architect and optimize data warehousing solutions in Snowflake, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions
Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure accuracy and reliability of data throughout the pipeline
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing data engineering best practices and standards
Optimize query performance and data storage strategies in Snowflake to balance cost and performance
Build reusable data models and transformations that serve multiple downstream use cases
Participate in architecture decisions and technical design reviews
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, models, and processes
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
Strong expertise with Snowflake, including data warehousing concepts, performance optimization, and cost management
Advanced proficiency with dbt for building and maintaining transformation pipelines, including experience with testing, documentation, and modular SQL
Proven experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating complex data workflows and managing dependencies
Expert-level SQL skills with experience writing complex queries, optimizations, and understanding query execution plans
Strong programming skills in Python for data processing and automation
Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices
Deep understanding of data modeling techniques (dimensional modeling, data vault, etc.)
Experience with data quality frameworks and testing strategies
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex data issues
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
Experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, or other cloud data tools
Familiarity with AWS IAM, VPC, and security best practices
Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Knowledge of streaming data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis)
Experience with data catalog and metadata management tools
Familiarity with DataOps practices and tools
Background in analytics engineering or dimensional modeling
Experience with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI)
Understanding of data governance and compliance requirements
Contributions to open-source data engineering projects
