Manager of Benefits (28939)
Dahl Consulting is partnering with a well-established organization in the health insurance and healthcare services industry to identify a Manager of Benefits for an immediate contract opportunity. This role provides strategic and operational leadership over employee benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive, cost-effective, and compliant with regulations.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and enhance benefit plan designs to ensure market competitiveness, cost effectiveness, and alignment with organizational objectives
Partner with benefits consultants to analyze trends, pricing, utilization, and innovation opportunities
Analyze claims data, utilization patterns, and market benchmarks to recommend plan improvements
Lead annual renewals, open enrollment planning, employee communications, and implementation of benefit changes
Identify opportunities to integrate wellbeing and financial wellness initiatives
Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS, and applicable federal and state regulations
Oversee preparation and submission of required filings (e.g., Form 5500), audits, SPDs, SBCs, and plan documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits policies and procedures
Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and recommend necessary program updates
Manage relationships with carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and other vendors
Lead and participate in RFP processes
Partner with corporate procurement to negotiate contracts, fees, and service-level agreements
Evaluate vendor performance and address service issues or escalations
Develop clear, accessible benefits communications, including guides, presentations, and digital resources
Partner with HR Business Partners, HR Service Center, and Employee Relations teams to resolve complex or escalated benefit issues
Promote wellbeing and financial wellness programs
Provide benefits-related training to managers and employees
Provide direction, coaching, and performance support to benefits team members
Set team goals, monitor performance, and ensure accurate and timely program administration
Foster a culture of service excellence, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Support staff development and cross-training
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
5+ years of employee benefits administration experience
1–4 years of people leadership or supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulatory compliance
Experience with vendor and consultant management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
CEBS, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar professional certification
