Responsibilities
Develop and execute company-wide purchasing strategies to support multiple projects and product types
Negotiate master supply agreements, volume pricing, and long-term pricing locks
Identify value-engineering opportunities and alternative materials while maintaining design intent and quality
Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers
Manage vendor performance, approved vendor lists, and resolve procurement challenges across projects
Coordinate with Development, Design, Construction, and Finance teams to align procurement with project milestones and budgets
Establish purchasing policies, workflows, approval limits, and reporting structures within ERP/accounting systems
Track procurement KPIs including cost savings, on-time delivery, and pricing variance
Lead and develop the purchasing team, promoting cross-project coordination and efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
8+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in residential development or builder-focused construction
Strong negotiation and analytical skills; proven experience managing large material budgets
Solid knowledge of residential construction materials and Bay Area supply markets
Leadership experience managing teams of buyers or purchasing managers
Preferred
Experience in a developer-builder or owner-rep environment preferred
Proficiency with ERP or accounting systems (Sage experience a plus)
