Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities

Ensure the confidentiality of all sensitive compensation and employee information
Accurately process Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, and Monthly payrolls for exempt and non-exempt staff
Verify employee work hours, PTO submissions, and overtime data for precision and compliance
Review earnings statements, deduction details, and tax withholdings prior to payroll submission
Enter and process garnishments and other mandatory withholding setups
Review and address garnishment-related communications, ensuring prompt and compliant responses
Address payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries with discretion, professionalism, and a service-focused approach
Maintain proactive problem-solving skills and a consistent, customer-oriented mindset to meet business needs
Prepare off-cycle payments for missed wages, corrections, or final pay
Assist with year-end processing, including W-2 distribution and/or re-issuance
Contribute to internal and external audit processes by providing necessary payroll documentation and support
Uphold payroll operations in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Support the Payroll leadership team and cross-functional partners on research, analysis, and ad-hoc projects
Perform additional duties as assigned while maintaining ethical and responsible conduct
Comply with the company's Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct to ensure behavior aligns with organizational values and regulatory standards

Required

Ability to maintain composure and thrive in high-pressure situations
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or Accounting, or related field; equivalent professional experience also considered
Minimum 4 years of hands-on payroll processing in a multi-state, multi-entity environment, managing diverse employee classifications including salaried, hourly, and commission-only roles
Strong working knowledge of current payroll regulations and compliance standards
At least 2 years of direct experience administering garnishments and other complex payroll deductions
Skilled in payroll platforms such as ExponentHR (preferred), ADP, Paycom, UKG, or similar systems
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) credentials preferred
